The United States isn’t doing enough to protect the rights of migrants, a U.N. human rights expert said Friday.

Jorge Bustamante said migrants are often subject to indefinite detention and forced deportation.

Bustamante, the U.N. Human Rights Council’s independent expert on migrant rights, said he had “serious concerns” about the situation of migrants in the U.S., “especially in the context of deportation and detention policies.”
